Filmmakers have until Friday 29 January 2010 to enter their short films into Fujifilm Shorts - the new short film competition from Fujifilm Motion Picture UK.
Fujifilm Shorts is open to all UK based filmmakers, entry is free and entrants can submit as many short films as they like. There is one category with an open brief with two prizes being awarded - 'Best Film' and 'Best Cinematography'. Full details of the competition are available from www.fujifilmshorts.com
‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Cinematography’ will each win:
- £2,000 worth of Fujifilm Motion Picture stock in either 16mm or 35mm.
- A ‘Rushes Package’ courtesy of Technicolor. Each prize will include film processing (a maximum of either 8,000ft of 16mm or 6,000ft of 35mm), a one light transfer, sync sound and Digi-Beta deliverable.
- Technicolor Creative Services Soho will provide a 35mm print of the two winning films for this year’s awards screening on Fujifilm’s show print stock, Eterna-CP 3521XD. This service will include Laser Film Recording services onto 35mm Fujifilm RDI Intermediate film from the winning film’s tape or data masters.
- A five-day Lighting hire package courtesy of Panalux.
- A 35mm or 16mm Camera and Dolly hire package courtesy of Panavision.
- A ‘Three-day Weekend’ studio hire package courtesy of Island Studios, London.
- There are additional prizes for the Cinematographers of each of the two winning films – The Cinematographers of the ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Cinematography’ will each win one free ticket to the Camerimage, International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, in Poland, December 2010. The prize includes flights, accommodation and industry festival passes.
- The British Society of Cinematographers (BSC) will welcome both of the winning Cinematographers of the ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Cinematography’ awards, as guests of Fujifilm, to all BSC social and technical events for a period of one year.
- The two winning films will be considered for a worldwide distribution deal with Future Shorts.
- The two winning films will be automatically entered into competition at the Born Shorts International Short Film Festival in Bornholm, Denmark, and will be screened as part of the festival programme.
- One year of free subscription to British Cinematographer Magazine.
- One year of free subscription to Moviescope Magazine.
- The winners will be featured in the Fujifilm Exposure Magazine with extensive PR coverage from Fujifilm Motion Picture. There will also be coverage generated by our competition media partners – British Cinematographer Magazine, Moviescope Magazine and Film & Festivals Magazine.
All submissions must be shot, in their entirety, on Fujifilm Motion Picture film stock and must have been completed after 1 January 2008. All submissions must be less than 30 minutes long. The closing date for entries is 29 January 2010.

A shortlist of nominated films will be selected from the entries received. If selected, you will be asked to submit a high-res copy of your short film for the final judging. Our judging panel of industry experts will select a winner for ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Cinematography’. The winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in March where the two winning films will be projected on Fujifilm’s show print stock, Eterna-CP 3521XD.
